Privacy Policy

Effective date: 3 September 2026

Siphtor LLC (“Siphtor”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website at siphtor.com and the associated platform services. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using Siphtor, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile information you provide. Authentication is handled by AWS Cognito; we do not store passwords directly.

Payment information. Subscriptions are processed through Stripe. Siphtor does not receive or store your full card details. We retain only your Stripe customer ID to manage your subscription and billing portal access.

Newsletter subscriptions. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. No other personal information is required.

Usage data. We collect anonymised usage analytics (page views, session duration, referral source) via Google Analytics to understand how the platform is used and to improve it. This data does not personally identify you.

2. Cookies and Local Storage

Authentication tokens. AWS Cognito stores authentication session tokens in your browser's localStorage or cookies to keep you signed in between sessions.

Preference storage. We store a “newsletter_widget_dismissed” flag in localStorage to remember whether you have closed the newsletter sign-up widget. This is a preference value and contains no personal information.

Google Analytics cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies including _ga and _gid to distinguish users and sessions for analytics purposes. These cookies are subject to Google's own privacy policy.

Google AdSense / advertising cookies. When advertising is enabled on the platform, Google AdSense and the DoubleClick network may set cookies to serve personalised advertisements based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.

3. Third-Party Services

Siphtor uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

  • AWS Cognito — user authentication and identity management. Data is processed in accordance with Amazon's Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management. Data is processed in accordance with the Stripe Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics — anonymised usage analytics. Data is processed in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense — advertising. When enabled, ad serving is governed by Google's advertising policies and the DoubleClick cookie. Data is processed in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain your account and subscription.
  • To send the weekly newsletter and any transactional emails (subscription confirmations, billing receipts).
  • To analyse usage patterns and improve the platform.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal or significant effects.

5. Newsletter

If you subscribe to the Siphtor newsletter, your email address is stored securely and used solely to send you the weekly macro newsletter and related editorial content. We will not share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email or by visiting siphtor.com/newsletter/unsubscribe.

6. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., billing records for tax compliance).

Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics' default retention settings (26 months).

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data (GDPR “right to be forgotten”).
  • Right to opt out — California residents may opt out of the sale of personal information under CCPA. We do not sell personal data, so this right is already fulfilled.
  • Right to object to advertising — opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at newsletter@siphtor.com with the subject line “Data Request”.
