SAP AG Reports Strong Q3, Cloud Revenue Surges 28%

SAP AG delivered a strong third quarter, exceeding expectations with a 28% year-over-year increase in cloud revenue to €24.1 billion. The company’s overall revenue rose 13% to €10.3 billion, fueled by the continued momentum in its cloud business. Net profit increased 11% to €2.27 billion, a significant milestone representing the first quarter where SAP surpassed both €10 billion in revenue and €3 billion in adjusted EBIT.

The surge in cloud revenue, up 26% when currency adjusted, is a key indicator of the company’s successful transition towards cloud-based software solutions. This performance is particularly noteworthy given the challenging economic climate and increased competition from artificial intelligence-driven software providers, which had previously weighed on investor sentiment. The company noted that some customers had recovered from financial difficulties, resulting in the recognition of previously deferred revenue, in addition to contributions from recent acquisitions including Reltio, Dremio, and Prior Labs.

SAP’s improved performance has boosted investor confidence, with the company’s ADR gaining over 4% in after-hours trading. This follows a broader recovery in the stock price since July, reversing earlier declines. The company now anticipates achieving the upper end of its full-year cloud revenue growth forecast of 23-25%.

The reported results demonstrate SAP’s strengthened financial position and scalability. The company’s ability to achieve over €10 billion in revenue and €3 billion in adjusted EBIT in a single quarter illustrates the effectiveness of its business model and its growing influence in the enterprise software market. The improved outlook, combined with the substantial increases in revenue and profit, signals a positive trajectory for SAP as it navigates the evolving technology landscape.
