Sands China Reports 1.4% Revenue Rise, 30% Profit Drop

Sands China Ltd. saw a modest 1.4% increase in net revenues to US$1.93 billion for the three months ended September 30, 2026, but simultaneously experienced a substantial 29.8% decline in net income, falling to US$191 million. This divergence, detailed in a recent filing, underscores the challenges facing the company despite top-line growth.

The decline in profitability is attributed to increased costs related to patron reinvestment and rising payroll expenses stemming from a more competitive Macao casino market, alongside an increase in table game hours and service levels. These factors offset the revenue gains, resulting in a 12.0% decrease in Adjusted Property EBITDA to US$529 million for the quarter. While net revenues for the first nine months of 2026 rose 7.8% to US$5.81 billion, net income for the same period decreased by 14.0% to US$592 million, and Adjusted Property EBITDA fell 6.5% to US$1.59 billion, demonstrating a sustained trend.

To address its debt structure, Sands China plans to issue US$700 million in 6.400% Senior Notes due 2032 and US$300 million in 6.700% Senior Notes due 2033. The proceeds will be used to redeem all outstanding 2.300% Senior Notes due 2027. This move follows similar debt refinancing efforts undertaken recently, as highlighted in past coverage, and allows the company to proactively manage its obligations. As of September 30, 2026, Sands China held US$1.09 billion in unrestricted cash and equivalents and US$2.31 billion in available borrowing capacity, providing financial flexibility.

Despite the revenue growth, Sands China's results reflect the broader economic headwinds impacting the Chinese market, including slower consumer spending and a competitive landscape in Macau. The company's ability to maintain revenue levels while grappling with increased costs and a changing debt profile will be key to its performance in the coming periods, as will the broader economic recovery of the region.
