NEC Corporation Reports 11.7% Revenue Increase

NEC Corporation reported an 11.7% year-over-year increase in revenue to ¥1.75 trillion for the first half of fiscal 2027. This growth was attributable to increases across all business segments. Non-GAAP operating profit also rose, increasing by ¥6.08 billion to ¥188.3 billion, supported by both revenue gains and improved profitability in the IT services and social infrastructure businesses.

The increase in revenue was further bolstered by the May 2026 acquisition of CSG Systems International, Inc., which now forms part of the IT services segment. Non-GAAP operating profit in the IT Services segment grew by 9.5% to ¥1.33 trillion, while the Social Infrastructure segment saw a more substantial 20.3% increase to ¥3.565 trillion. The company modified its reporting segments during the period, reflecting the integration of CSG Systems and other organizational changes.

As of September 30, 2026, total assets reached ¥4.639 trillion, a ¥1.721 trillion increase from the prior year-end, largely due to the acquisition of CSG. Liabilities increased by ¥1.199 trillion to ¥2.305 trillion, with an increase in long-term debt to ¥7.747 billion, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.34. Cash and cash equivalents decreased by ¥2.232 trillion to ¥4.358 billion.

The company’s financial performance also saw an increase in net profit attributable to owners of the parent company, which rose by ¥436 billion to ¥1.164 billion. A deeper look into the financial results reveals the company’s strengthening position in key markets, despite ongoing pressures in the broader IT sector. The reported gains contrast with recent signals indicating a slowdown in growth within the wider Indian IT space, where NEC and related firms have a notable presence.
