Lockheed Martin Reports 11% Sales Increase in Q3 2026

Lockheed Martin’s third quarter 2026 results revealed an 11% increase in sales, reaching $20.7 billion compared to $18.6 billion in the same period of 2025. This growth translated to net earnings of $1.8 billion, or $7.97 per share—a 14% increase from $1.6 billion, or $6.95 per share, reported in the third quarter of 2025.

The company’s backlog also saw significant growth, increasing 27% since the second quarter of 2026 to reach a record $292.0 billion, indicating strong future demand for its products and services. Cash from operations totaled $3.4 billion in Q3 2026, slightly down from $3.7 billion in the prior-year period, while free cash flow decreased from $3.3 billion to $3.0 billion.

These results come amidst a favorable geopolitical landscape and increased global defense spending. The company highlighted its focus on integrating advanced technologies like AI and autonomy into existing platforms, such as Aegis, F-35, and Hellfire, to drive future growth. The sustained financial momentum prompted the company to raise its financial outlook for sales, earnings per share, and free cash flow for the second consecutive quarter.

While the company reported substantial revenue and earnings growth, the modest decline in cash flow from operations warrants attention. The increased backlog suggests continued strong demand, but the ability to convert that backlog into cash flow will be crucial to monitor in future periods. The results reflect a broader trend of increased demand in the defense sector, driven by geopolitical tensions and modernization efforts, positioning Lockheed Martin to benefit from these tailwinds.
