Evotec AG Revenue Declines, Lowers Profitability Targets

Evotec AG’s nine-month 2026 revenue declined by approximately 13% year-over-year to €465.0 million, while simultaneously lowering its mid-term profitability targets, according to a recent filing. The results underscore mounting pressure on the company’s financial performance amid a broader slowdown in the pharmaceutical sector.

The revenue decline follows a previously announced strategic review initiated in May 2026, which continues alongside the ongoing Horizon transformation program. While revenue decreased overall, the company reported that third-quarter revenue of approximately €165 million exceeded the revenues of the first two quarters of the year, suggesting some stabilization in the latter half of 2026. Despite this, the company’s adjusted EBITDA loss for the first three quarters of the year was €44.3 million, a significant deterioration from the €16.9 million loss recorded in the same period last year.

Evotec has also adjusted its profitability goals, pushing back the timeline for achieving its target adjusted EBITDA margin. The company now expects to reach a 20% margin by the end of 2028, and exceed 20% by the end of 2030—a delay compared to previous expectations. This revision comes alongside a reaffirmation of the full-year 2026 revenue guidance of approximately €570 to €610 million. The combination of lowered profitability expectations and maintained revenue guidance suggests the company anticipates continued cost pressures and a more challenging operating environment.

These results arrive within a context of uneven growth across the Indian corporate landscape, where the pharmaceutical sector is lagging behind others. Evotec’s performance reflects this broader trend, as the company navigates a competitive environment and adjusts its strategic outlook. The company’s lowered margin targets signal a recalibration of expectations, acknowledging the challenges in achieving its initial financial goals, while the maintained revenue outlook suggests continued demand for its services despite the headwinds.
