ConocoPhillips Q3 Earnings Surge 40% YoY, Dividend Increased

ConocoPhillips reported a substantial increase in earnings for the first three quarters of 2026, with net income reaching $10.115 billion, a 40% jump compared to the $7.243 billion reported for the same period in 2025. The surge in profitability was primarily fueled by higher realized prices across its operations, contributing $6.7 billion to the increase in revenue. In response to its strong financial performance, ConocoPhillips increased its quarterly ordinary dividend by 11% and continued its share repurchase program, returning a total of $3.4 billion to shareholders year-to-date.

Revenue for the first three quarters of 2026 totaled $55.633 billion, up from $46.765 billion in the prior-year period. While higher prices were the main driver of revenue growth, the company also benefited from increased production in certain segments, notably Asia Pacific, where earnings climbed from $950 million to $1.449 billion. However, these gains were partially offset by lower volumes in other areas, including Canada, where earnings were impacted by lower production and pending claims.

The company’s Lower 48 segment saw a significant earnings boost, climbing from $4.429 billion to $8.216 billion. This was largely attributable to higher realized crude prices, but also benefited from lower production and operating expenses. Despite these positive trends, the company noted increased depreciation, depletion, and amortization (DD&A) expenses due to higher net book values related to the Marathon Oil acquisition.

ConocoPhillips maintains a strong financial position, allowing it to return capital to shareholders through both dividends and share repurchases. The company’s commitment to shareholder returns is underscored by the 11% dividend increase and the $2.4 billion in shares repurchased during the first three quarters of 2026. With production for the fourth quarter expected to be between 2.32 and 2.36 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, ConocoPhillips is positioned to continue delivering strong financial results in the current market environment.
