Boeing Reports Q3 Loss, Secures $9.8B Navy Contract

Boeing reported a net loss of $823 million for the first nine months of 2026, a marked decline from the $6.244 billion loss reported in the same period last year. Total revenues for the first nine months of 2026 reached $70.965 billion, up from $65.515 billion in 2025. Third-quarter revenues totaled $24.188 billion, a slight increase from $23.270 billion year-over-year.

The company’s operating results show a loss of $958 million for the first nine months of 2026, a substantial improvement compared to the $4.496 billion loss recorded in the same period of the previous year. However, Boeing still recorded a net loss attributable to Boeing common shareholders of $823 million, or $1.04 per share, for the same period. This represents a decrease from the $6.244 billion loss, or $8.25 per share, reported in 2025.

Alongside these financial results, Boeing announced a significant $9.8 billion contract win from the U.S. Navy for the development of the F/A-XX fighter aircraft. This contract provides a key indicator of sustained demand within the defense sector, offsetting pressures in the commercial airplane market. The company’s ongoing efforts to streamline production and navigate regulatory scrutiny remain critical as it seeks to capitalize on rising air freight demand and competition from Airbus.

The reported results demonstrate a degree of stabilization following prior losses, though the company remains in a net loss position. The Navy contract provides a substantial revenue stream and reinforces Boeing’s position as a key defense contractor. The shift from a $6.244 billion loss to $823 million, while still negative, suggests a positive, albeit incremental, trend in the company’s financial performance.
